There are lots of dog owners who disaprove the use of anti bark collars, considering them to be some inhumane if not even torture devices, but the very same people are subjecting their pets to extremely emotional upset, and even cruelty on some occasions. If it happens to own a dog that loves barking all the day, and especially when your neighbours want to rest, you can be sure that those people will eventually complain, and for the very best reason. Let’s face it; a dog that barks incessantly is enough to drive anyone up the wall. Excessive barking, especially at inappropriate times will get you into trouble not only with your neighbours, but also with the law. Most jurisdictions have legislation in place which could force a dog owner to get rid of their dog if it’s continuously causing a disturbance.
After all those years you have been together with your dog, it will be a significant emotional disturbance to be forced to give him or her to another owner. To make matters worse, the new owners will quite likely get rid of the dog as well once they discover how much disturbance it causes. Eventually the barking loving dog will find itself in an animal shelter, and most probably on the receiving end of a lethal injection. How anyone can possibly believe that this type of treatment is more humane than a negligible static shock is beyond belief.
Unfortunately though, the vast majority of people have seen movies where a dog has been tortured using a shock collar, and they’ve read reports on how cruel these collars are. Though those who have written such scenarios and reports claim to be the most lovings of the dog lovers, they never took the time to actually research about the anti bark collars. Some of these people even associate the use of the anti bark collars with the way criminals are prepared for the electric chair. And as the proof of such cruel use of the anti bark collars, some reports make claim have seen burn marks on the neck of these dogs. Have you ever seen a skin burn produced by the small AA batterie?
In truth, electronic Anti Bark Collars should be called “tingle” collars, as opposed to shock collars. After all, when you take your jumper off on a hot and humid day, and you touch something and get a tiny shock, one can’t really describe it as being painful. This shock can do no harm, it just gives you a short fright.
There are thousands of dogs alive today just thanks to these collars. They have been used as a last resort by many dog owners, but have been proven effective in just a couple of days. Additionally, most Anti Bark Collars will warn the dog before the shock is administered. The electric shock is administered gradually, if the dog continues barking after the warning beep. With that said, even the most powerful shock is little more than what we know as a static shock. It cannot be more powerful than the two AA batteries allow.
The right nickname of these electronic Anti Bark Collars should be in fact “tingle” collars. The intensity of the electric shock is adjustable. Most Anti Bark Collars firstly issue a warning beep.
