Beagle Escape

For those of you that think this is cruel, please know that we were attempting to save this dog from the pound and because we work for a living we needed to cage the animal during the day to keep it from destroying the house and hurting itself.

This is amazing. I …
This is amazing. I don't know how many times this beagle was in this crate before, but less than two minutes to figure out an exit point would be smart for a lot of people.

MaddestHatter13 @ 7:28 pm

a very smart choice …
a very smart choice~

my beagle is kept in his cage when no on is home, but he's happy since it's vacation and he has company.
he's a bit of a destroyer in the house once his anxiety gets the best of him, and we're too scared he could hurt himself once he gets to that point if he's outside of his cage [which is a good size and has enough water and food for the time we are out]~

tatijo @ 7:28 pm

That's really sweet …
That's really sweet. I bet it was hard to let her go.

bermyWHAT @ 7:28 pm

I would be more …

That cage is disgustingly tiny :(

This is exactly …
This is exactly like my brothers beagle!
She's an outside dog and she chewed the other beagles leash and collar, chewed part of the kennel, and chewed bark off of the tree! Beagles are the BEST though

AaronDanielSmith @ 7:28 pm

This is crazy! We …
This is crazy! We own a Beagle and an Anatolian Shephard…the Beagle is a destructomutt so we keep him in the cage during the day while we're at work…if it weren't for the Anatolian keeping him company, I could see our pup trying this!

Scardy @ 7:28 pm

I had a hamster …
I had a hamster like that. He could get out every night.
It wasn't that big a problem because he'd get up on a table or couch and wait for mom to put him back in the morning.

robsyuk @ 7:28 pm

Wow, Glad mine …
Wow, Glad mine enjoys his bed / cage as i call it. Impressive though

Jcon1076 @ 7:28 pm

After this, we …
After this, we realized that we could not keep her. She was given to an older couple that is home during the day and she was fine.

juliebburns @ 7:28 pm

How heartbreaking, …
How heartbreaking, and not what you are doing, just how high his separation anxiety is.

Can you tell us how the story ended up? Is he better, or were you able to "save him" ? Either way, I applaud your efforts.

caroalvaradom @ 7:28 pm

beagles are very …
beagles are very smart dogs i love them so much

jjaaee @ 7:28 pm

Wow, smart.
Wow, smart.

carmen2421 @ 7:28 pm

That is awesome! …
That is awesome! lol. My beagle does that ALOT! we gave up. She's trained so it doesn't bother us when she's out. But we keep the lab/pit in her crate because she's still a puppy and likes to poop and tear up everything. And when we get home she's out of her crate. So we caught the beagle opening her crate with her paws. Smart little thing.

PUPPYLOVE1000001 @ 7:28 pm

aussiepenguin @ 7:28 pm

Our beagle actually …
Our beagle actually learnt how to open the latches on her crate when she was young…. funny thing though, she seems to have forgotten now! She's tried the pushing the bottom bit out, but I don't think she'd fit through the bottom wires…

aussiepenguin @ 7:28 pm

They sure can be …
They sure can be determined little critters!!
